They have a valid travel document authorizing them to cross the border and meeting the following criteria:

1. it is valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure from the territory of the Member States; (in justified urgent cases this criterion may be omitted);

2. has been issued in the last 10 years;

They have a valid short-stay visa, if required pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No 539/2001, unless they have a valid residence permit issued by another Schengen State or a valid long-stay visa issued by another Schengen State;
Justify the purpose and conditions of the intended stay and have sufficient means of subsistence, both for the duration of the planned stay and for their return to their country of origin or transit to a third country which is certain that they will be authorized to enter its territory, or if they are able to obtain such funds legally;
Are not persons for whom an alert has been issued for the purposes of refusing entry into the SIS;
Are not considered to constitute a threat to public policy, internal security, public health or the international relations of any of the Member States, and in particular they have not been entered on that basis for the purposes of refusing entry in the national databases of the Member States.

The first day of stay on the territory of the Member States is the date of entry and the date of departure is counted as the last day of stay on the territory of the Member States. The calculation of the length of short stay in Poland does not take into account the periods of stay allowed under the residence permit or long-stay visa issued by the Polish authorities.

Third countries whose nationals are required to have a visa for short-term entry into the Schengen territory (including Poland) and those whose nationals are exempt from this obligation have been defined in Council Regulation (EU) No 2018/1806 of November 14, 2018 listing third countries whose nationals must be in possession of visas when crossing the external borders and those whose nationals are exempted from this requirement.

In addition, nationals of certain third countries are exempted from the obligation to have a visa to enter the territory of the Schengen States (including Poland) under visa waiver agreements concluded by the EU with these third countries. Citizens of some third countries are also exempted from the obligation to have a visa to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland under agreements concluded with these countries by the Republic of Poland.
